Our Ground Source Heat Pump Solutions

Here at Greenstone we pride ourselves researching the market and exploring which manufactures and model are best suited for specific applications. Heat pumps in general will save you more money in running cost and reduce more carbon emissions if the flow temperature to your radiators or underfloor heating is kept low.

We have attended many heat pump manufacture training courses and our current preference for ground source is NIBE.

What are the benefits of an ground source heat pump?

  • Can be used for both heating and hot water production
  • Provides good levels of efficiency all year round
  • Lasts three times as long as a conventional boiler
  • Designed to be low maintenance
  • Nothing visible from the outside of the property

Ground loops (pipes which extract the energy)

There are a few options on how we can install ground loops and it can depend on the surface area required and space available. Capital costs are also a key decision maker.

horizontal group loop ground source heat pump

Horizontal Group Loop

Is the most affordable way to extract energy from your garden / field. It requires a 1 metre deep trench and 1 metre wide. The number of these trenches and length will depend on the energy demand from your property for heating and hot water. The pipes are laid down separated by 1 metre from each other.

The number of these trenches and length will depend on the energy demand from your property for heating and hot water. The pipes are laid down separated by 1 metre from each other.

bore hole closed ground source heat pump

Bore Hole (Closed loop)

Is the most affordable way to extract energy from your garden / field. It requires a 1 metre deep trench and 1 metre wide. The number of these trenches and length will depend on the energy demand from your property for heating and hot water. The pipes are laid down separated by 1 metre from each other.

Bore Hole (Open Loop)

Is the most affordable way to extract energy from your garden / field. It requires a 1 metre deep trench and 1 metre wide. The number of these trenches and length will depend on the energy demand from your property for heating and hot water. The pipes are laid down separated by 1 metre from each other.

MCS Certification

We are MCS certified:

“MCS is a mark of quality and demonstrates compliance to industry standards that companies strive to meet. It highlights to consumers that companies are able to consistently install or manufacture to the highest quality every time.”

More information on MCS can be found here www.microgenerationcertification.org.

Since it’s classed as a renewable technology it will qualify you to receive the renewable heat incentive. The renewable heat incentive together with the savings you make against your old heating system is designed to pay off the capital cost of the installation and equipment.

For domestic installations the payment from Ofgem directly to you last 7 years. More information from Ofgem can be found here.

For commercial installations the payment from Ofgem directly to you last 20 years More information from Ofgem can be found here.
